In August 2021, Reddit disclosed a Series F financing in which it raised $410 million at a valuation exceeding $10 billion, with the round led by Fidelity Management & Research and the company indicating it could raise up to $700 million in total. The fundraising marked a striking acceleration in the company's worth: just six months earlier, in the wake of the GameStop trading frenzy that put Reddit at the center of financial markets, the company had completed a raise that valued it at roughly $6 billion.
Reddit said the new capital would be used to expand its workforce, invest in advertising and community features, and pursue a stronger international push beyond its heavily US-centric user base. The round came as Reddit's profile and revenue were climbing rapidly and as speculation mounted about an eventual public listing. The $10 billion-plus valuation set a benchmark that would loom over Reddit's later IPO, which ultimately priced the company well below that private-market peak.
