Summary
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania announced on September 8, 2026, that Scott Testa, 60, of Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged by indictment with two counts of cyberstalking. These are accusations only, and Testa is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. According to the office, the indictment alleges that on multiple dates in April 2026 Testa, with intent to harass and intimidate, used the internet and/or electronic mail to engage in a course of conduct directed at two victims, a local government official and a police officer, that allegedly caused or would be reasonably expected to cause substantial emotional distress. The release specifies Reddit as the platform for the alleged posts. The indictment alleges that Testa posted on Reddit an AI-altered image depicting one victim in a white Ku Klux Klan robe, with false information about that victim, and then allegedly posted the names of the victim's children and an address he believed to be the victim's home. It further alleges that he posted on Reddit an AI-altered image of a second victim and his family, including minor children, with their faces exposed, all depicted in white Klan robes, and that each post identified the victim and family. The office also alleges that he posted messages such as "we are watching you" and "we are coming." According to the office, Testa appeared in federal court on September 8, when U.S. Magistrate Judge Scott W. Reid ordered him detained pending trial. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a $500,000 fine. The FBI's Fort Washington Resident Agency investigated, and Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Jeanette Kang is prosecuting. As of November 2026, the most recent record located was the U.S. Attorney's Office release of September 8, 2026; no plea or verdict had been reported.
