Reddit Answers

Reddit Answers is Reddit's native, AI-powered answer and search feature, which lets a user ask a question in plain language and receive a generated summary drawn from relevant discussions across the platform, alongside direct links to the source posts and communities. It soft-launched in December 2024 to a limited set of United States users in English and expanded through 2025 into a wider beta across more languages, regions and devices.

The feature matters as Reddit's response to the rise of AI chat assistants and to its dependence on inbound search traffic: by synthesising answers from its own content, Reddit aims to keep users on the platform rather than turning to outside tools or to Google. It also raises the familiar risks of AI summarisation, since a generated answer can strip nuance, surface outdated or unreliable community advice, or present anecdote as authority, concerns that drew particular attention where the feature appeared alongside medical discussions. Usage is capped by tiers, with logged-out users, logged-in users and Premium subscribers each allowed different numbers of questions.
