Reddit reports first full year of data-licensing-driven 'Other revenue'
What happened
In its fourth-quarter and full-year 2024 results, reported February 12, 2025, Reddit disclosed 'Other revenue' of about $114.7 million for 2024, the line item that includes its AI data-licensing agreements, with roughly $33.2 million of that recognized in the fourth quarter alone. It was the company's first full year reflecting the data-licensing deals signed with Google and OpenAI during 2024.
The figure established AI data licensing as a material, separately reported revenue stream for the newly public company, distinct from its core advertising business. The disclosure validated the strategic thesis Reddit had pitched to investors, that its large archive of human-written discussion was a valuable, monetizable input for training and grounding artificial-intelligence systems.
