Reddit, Inc. v Commonwealth of Australia & Minister for Communications

Reddit filed an Application for a Constitutional or Other Writ in the High Court of Australia challenging the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Act 2024, seeking a declaration that the Act is invalid and a writ restraining the Minister from specifying Reddit as an 'age-restricted social media platform'. Grounds include the implied freedom of political communication and that Reddit's purpose is not 'to enable online social interaction between two or more end-users'. Coordinated with the Digital Freedom Project challenge to the same Act. The HCA registry number was not obtainable from public sources. The High Court challenge remained pending as of July 2026.
