Biography
Alfred Lin is a Taiwanese-American venture capitalist and partner at Sequoia Capital, where he has invested since 2010. Sequoia's own profile of Lin lists Reddit among his investments, dating his relationship with co-founders Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian to the firm's growth-stage backing of Reddit in 2014. Before venture capital, Lin was chairman, chief operating officer, and chief financial officer of the online shoe and clothing retailer Zappos from 2005 until its 2009 acquisition by Amazon, and he earlier co-founded the companies LinkExchange and Venture Frogs alongside the late Tony Hsieh. He holds degrees from Harvard and Stanford and is a frequently top-ranked figure on investor lists, with a portfolio that has included Airbnb, DoorDash, Instacart, and Uber. Available sources confirm his Sequoia-led investment in Reddit; they do not establish a personal seat on Reddit's board.
