Amaury Trujillo

Amaury Trujillo is a researcher at Italy's IIT-CNR in Pisa specialising in social-media content moderation and computational social science. He is a co-author of 'The Great Ban,' the 2024 study assessing the efficacy and unintended consequences of Reddit's 2020 mass deplatforming operation, and one of the creators of its associated dataset. Beyond his Reddit work, he has conducted large-scale audits of platform moderation through the European Union's Digital Services Act Transparency Database, analysing hundreds of millions of self-reported moderation actions across the largest social-media platforms, including studies of moderation activity around the 2024 European Parliament elections. His research consistently centres on how online platforms moderate harmful content and on measuring the real-world effects of those interventions, making Reddit's policy decisions a recurring object of empirical study in his work.
