Andrew Shu, known on Reddit by the handle talklittle, is the developer of Reddit is Fun, later styled 'rif is fun for Reddit,' one of the longest-running and most popular third-party Reddit clients for Android. Over more than a decade the app built a large user base by offering an alternative interface to Reddit's official mobile experience. During Reddit's 2023 changes to its application-programming-interface pricing, which imposed costs that many independent developers said were unaffordable, Shu announced that Reddit is Fun would shut down at the end of June 2023, citing the new terms and Reddit's treatment of third-party developers. The app's closure, alongside that of other prominent clients, was a focal point of the 2023 developer backlash and the protest blackout in which thousands of subreddits went dark, and it is frequently cited in accounts of how the API changes ended an era of third-party Reddit apps.
