N8theGr8 is the Reddit handle of a power moderator who, according to reputable reporting, moderates dozens of communities containing millions of members; no real name has been published in reputable sources. In August 2021 the account authored the public announcement that launched a coordinated moderator protest demanding that Reddit do more to curb COVID-19 misinformation, after an open letter from moderators of high-profile subreddits drew an unsatisfying company response. The announcement stated that despite promises, little of substance had been done beyond quarantining a medium-sized subreddit, and it listed dozens of subreddits whose teams had signed on in solidarity, several of which briefly went private. The moderator was interviewed by a public-radio podcast about the protest and Reddit's stance on health misinformation. The handle is also cited in the wider debate over the outsized footprint of a small number of moderators across Reddit's largest communities.
