Biography
Savvas Zannettou is a computational social scientist and assistant professor in the Technology, Policy and Management faculty at TU Delft in the Netherlands, and an associated researcher with the Max Planck Institute for Informatics. His research applies machine learning and large-scale quantitative analysis to emerging web phenomena, including the spread of false information, hateful rhetoric, and the effects of algorithmic recommendation on social platforms. He is a listed co-author of 'The Pushshift Reddit Dataset' (ICWSM 2020), the foundational paper documenting the archive that made comprehensive historical and real-time Reddit data available to researchers and that underpinned a large body of subsequent computational work. He has also contributed to studies of deplatforming, toxicity, and user migration involving Reddit communities, making the platform a recurring subject of his measurement-driven research into online harms.
