What changed
Reddit's transparency report for January–June 2025 states Reddit "received 154 Gov/LE removal requests from 23 countries to remove content from the platform," representing "a 26% increase since the previous report and a 27% increase in the volume of content reported in these requests." "Half (50%) of the content identified in these requests was removed for Reddit Rules violations, whereas a small percentage of content (3%) was restricted locally in the requester's country based on violations of local law," which the report says "represents a 32% decrease in the overall action rate on removal requests received." "The top requesting countries included India (37), the United Arab Emirates (21), Australia (16) and the United States of America (13)." Separately, the report states Reddit "received 182 legal demands from private parties (including NGOs) for content removal in the first half of 2025, a 44% increase from the previous period."
