What changed
In mid-July 2025, to comply with the UK Online Safety Act, Reddit began requiring UK users to verify their age via a third-party vendor (Persona) using a government ID photo and/or live selfie before accessing mature or sensitive communities. Reddit said it would store only verification status and date of birth, not the images, marking its first large-scale age-assurance system.
