Summary
In May 2014, amid an anti-pornography crackdown, Indonesia's communications ministry (Kominfo) blocked Reddit, along with Vimeo and Imgur, over nudity and sexual content as part of the 'Internet Positif' / Trust+Positif filtering program. The block was implemented at the ISP level through the national content-filtering system. Later network-measurement work by the Tor Project and OONI found that the formal ban had eased but that Reddit was still blocked on some Indonesian networks in 2016-2017, indicating inconsistent residual filtering. The status is best described as an initial 2014 block that was subsequently relaxed rather than a clean permanent ban. It remains a recurring example of category-based blocking sweeping in a general platform.
