AI Rules? Characterizing Reddit Community Policies Towards AI-Generated Content

Analyzes metadata and community rules of over 300,000 public subreddits to characterize how communities regulate AI-generated content. AI rules more than doubled over a year; they are more common in larger subreddits and art- and celebrity-focused communities, often target AI images, and cite quality and authenticity concerns — evidence of community self-determination in the generative-AI era.
