Pathways to Conspiracy: The Social and Linguistic Precursors of Involvement in Reddit's Conspiracy Theory Forum

A retrospective case-control study of users who went on to post in r/conspiracy, finding measurable social and linguistic precursors — differences in prior language and in the communities they frequented — that distinguish future conspiracy-forum participants from matched controls. Evidence that Reddit environments and interaction patterns help draw users toward conspiracy communities.
