Summary
Analyzing 500,000+ removals across 204 subreddits plus interviews with 13 moderators, the study finds that much moderation — especially AutoModerator karma gates and keyword filters — is invisible to users and unstated in subreddit rules, that there is no standardized appeal process, and that Reddit's own design impedes transparency. A systematic account of Reddit's opaque, unaccountable moderation.
