Summary
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts, Michael Myers, 39, of Lunenburg, was sentenced in federal court in Worcester to 12 years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), to be followed by five years of supervised release. U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman imposed the sentence, which the office announced on July 23, 2026. Myers pleaded guilty in March 2026 to one count of possession of child pornography. He was arrested and charged by criminal complaint in December 2024 and remained in federal custody throughout. The office said Myers had a 2015 state conviction for possession of CSAM, for which he received two years of probation, and that he is a Level One Sex Offender. The Reddit connection is a separate account. In August 2023, Myers was identified as the owner of a Kik Messenger account transmitting CSAM files. According to the release, in April 2024 he was separately identified as the owner of a Reddit account transmitting CSAM files depicting the abuse of a minor. Search warrants obtained for both the Kik and Reddit accounts revealed several chats that further demonstrated his criminal sexual interest in young boys. During a December 2024 search of his Lunenburg residence, an anonymous private messaging application on his phone showed that videos and pictures of CSAM had been sent and received. The announcement came from the U.S. Attorney, Homeland Security Investigations in New England, and the Lunenburg Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Danial Bennett of the Worcester Branch Office prosecuted the case under Project Safe Childhood. Daily Voice reported the same account details. The records reviewed do not say how the Reddit account was flagged to investigators.
