Crime type
Production, distribution, or possession of child sexual abuse material, where the case has a Reddit nexus.
This page collects the tracker's criminal cases in the child sexual abuse material (CSAM) category: prosecutions concerning the production, distribution, receipt, or possession of sexual imagery of minors, together with related online enticement offences, where a Reddit connection is documented. The term CSAM is used here in preference to the older legal phrase child pornography because it describes the material as a record of abuse. Statutes and charging documents still use the older wording, and it is quoted as written where an entry refers to a charge.
Descriptions on this site are clinical and non-graphic. Entries state the charge, the court, the current status, and the sentence where one has been imposed, and they never describe the content of any material. Victims, who may be children, are never named. One general route by which such cases come to light is a report from an online platform to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, which reviews reports and forwards them to law enforcement. Investigators may then seek account records from the platform through legal process before applying for search warrants. The entries below show how that general route appears in individual public records, although it is not identical in every case and each entry reports only what its own sources state.
This tracker currently lists 31 cases in the CSAM category. By latest recorded status: 5 charged (alleged, not proven), 1 pleaded guilty, 2 convicted, 23 sentenced. The cases are dated from 2021 to 2026. They were brought in 24 distinct jurisdictions in 2 countries (Australia, United States). The median custodial sentence among the 20 sentenced cases with a recorded prison term (life, non-custodial and unrecorded terms are excluded) is 180 months (about 15.0 years). A status of charged is an accusation, not a finding of guilt.

In the United States, federal law addresses this conduct through several overlapping provisions of Title 18. Section 2251 covers the sexual exploitation of children, including using or coercing a minor to take part in the production of visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct. Sections 2252 and 2252A address transporting, distributing, receiving, and possessing such material. Section 2252A is framed around the statutory term ‘child pornography’, which section 2256(8) defines to include computer-generated images that are, or are indistinguishable from, those of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, and images altered to appear to show an identifiable minor. Several of these offences carry mandatory minimum terms of imprisonment, and sentencing is also shaped by the federal sentencing guidelines.
Section 2422(b) addresses the use of the mail or any facility of interstate or foreign commerce, including the internet, to persuade, induce, entice, or coerce a person under eighteen to engage in prostitution or any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense. Separately, section 2258A provides that providers (electronic communication services and remote computing services) that obtain actual knowledge of facts or circumstances showing an apparent violation of specified child-exploitation offences must report to the NCMEC CyberTipline as soon as reasonably possible; the statute does not require them to monitor users. That reporting duty is one route by which a platform report can appear at the start of the public record in a matter of this kind.
States prosecute the same kind of conduct under their own statutes, and the elements, charge names, and sentencing ranges differ from state to state. Cases outside the United States follow the law of the prosecuting country and are not governed by the federal statutes above; the tracker lists them with their own jurisdiction. This overview is general background, not legal advice, and it is not a statement about the guilt of any person listed on this page.
A case appears under CSAM only where there is a documented Reddit nexus. That means the defendant used Reddit to commit, coordinate, advertise, or first draw law-enforcement attention to the offence, or that a Reddit CyberTip, a subpoena response, or a direct report to the police or the FBI produced the charge. The bar is deliberately strict. A widely reported case is excluded unless the Reddit connection is documented in the charging papers, court records, or contemporaneous reporting; simply holding a Reddit account is not enough, and incidents that actually ran through Discord, Telegram, or other platforms are left out rather than stretched to fit.
The status shown on each entry reflects the newest official document the tracker has located, such as an indictment, a plea agreement, a verdict, or a sentencing judgment, and it can lag behind later developments. A status of charged records an accusation only: a charge is not a finding of guilt, and every person charged is presumed innocent unless and until convicted or until they plead guilty. Entries marked charged are therefore labelled as alleged. Victims are never named, and where a victim is described at all the description is limited to what is needed to understand the charge. If an entry is out of date, incomplete, or wrong, use the corrections page to report it.
This category is limited to cases where the central allegation concerns child sexual abuse material or the enticement of a minor in connection with it. Each case carries a single category, so a matter that involves several kinds of conduct is listed on only one hub. Entries are written in clinical terms, quote the charge as it appears in the record, and link to the primary sources that support them.
